Tuition, Room and Board Breakdown
The SOULS West year round program is broken into quarters alternating between classroom quarters and practicum quarters. Students only incur charges during classroom quarters because they are not receiving classroom education during the practicum quarters, nor are they living on campus so room and board do not apply.
Below is a breakdown for tuition, room and board for the two quarters they are charged in the SOULS West program.
Tuition: $ 3,540.00
Room & Board: $ 900.00
Total: $ 4,440.00
3rd Quarter--Spring
Tuition: $ 3,540.00
Room & Board: $ 900.00
Total: $ 4,440.00
Total fees for tuition, room and board are $ 8,880.00 per year. A credit of ten percent (10%) of the monthly charge is applied if the student’s account is paid off at the end of each month. If a student maintains a zero balance at the end of each month, total fees for the year would be reduced by $ 888 to $ 7,992.
A student’s income is generally higher during practicum quarters so rather than only charge tuition, room and board during classroom quarters at $1,480 per month we spread the charges equally over fall, winter, and spring quarters. This brings the monthly charges to $ 986.67 per month. The lower monthly charges make it easier for a student to qualify for the credit, and make financial planning or budgeting easier.
Students must bring $ 2,000.00 as a down payment to registration in the form of cash (least recommended), personal check, money order, or cashier's check.
Other Student Expenses
Big Book Practicum and Bible Work Practicum
A vehicle which provides reliable transportation during these practicums is necessary for each student. With that said, it does not mean that you should buy a car before coming to SOULS West if you don’t have one currently. Contact a SOULS West faculty or staff member about this issue for further information if you have any questions.
During the Big Book Practicum and Bible Work Practicum, students are responsible for the appropriate, license, registration, and insurance for the vehicle they will use. It is not recommended that a student use a vehicle for either practicum if car payments must be made by the student.
Breakfast is usually, but not always, provided during these practicums, and students are expected to provide their own lunch (much like summer magabook programs).
Gas, food, and any other necessary expenses during these practicums must be paid for using the money students have earned by selling magabooks. In the Big Book Practicum, students are able to buy these books at a huge discount, and in the Bible Work Practicum students are given books to sell as part of their compensation by the church or conference they are working for. Students who apply themselves in the field should not have any trouble making enough money to more than cover these expenses.
SOULS West Magabook Blitzes
Transportation to and from the magabook blitzes is the responsibility of the student. Many times SOULS West will provide transportation for students to and from blitzes, however, this is not to be expected. We will continue to try and make transportation for students as economical and convenient as possible.
During blitzes breakfast and Sabbath lunch are provided, however, students are responsible for their own lunches like a summer magabook program.
Students DO NOT receive a payroll advance of five percent (5%) of their gross sales at the end of each week like they would in a summer program. Enough lunch money must be brought by the students to last the duration of the blitz.
Books and Schools Supplies
After acceptance to SOULS West, please speak with a staff or faculty member to make sure you have a Bible that has the features you will need to make your studies the most productive. Since you will use your Bible for hours each day, an investment in a quality Bible is a very good idea.
Most books students will need for classes will be made available for purchase by the school. Books and any other supplies are not able to be charged to a student’s account and therefore must be paid for with cash or personal check. Typical school supplies such as binders, dividers, pens and pencils, and the like will also be needed.
Laptop or Personal Computer
A laptop/portable computer is not required but is extremely convenient and saves a lot of time. If you are considering buying a laptop computer to use while attending SOULS West, contact a faculty or staff member to get more information on what hardware or software you may need. SOULS West does have a small computer lab where students can create and print their work. Almost all assignments must be printed before being turned in for grading, so working on a computer is unavoidable. SOULS West does provide a printer at no charge for students to print their work.
